As we age, we can be more vulnerable during natural disasters like blizzards and power outages. It is important to have a plan and be ready for an emergency.
Some tips:
Make a list of emergency contacts (hardcopy & on your cell phone). Give someone a copy of the list and a house key. Keep family/friends/neighbours informed if you are away.
Gather supplies such as food, water, clothing, medication, batteries, chargers, flashlights/candles etc and put in a disaster kit (remember it should be light)
If possible have a supply of extra non-perishable food supplies in the house that will last for at least 72 hours in case you can’t get out.
