I want to announce another fantastic Globe Walk in February. Once again we circumvented the world with distance to spare! Our total for February was 39,366 miles with the SCOA team contributing 1723 miles. Congratulations! Our March 17th gathering was a lot of fun and certainly will help with distance travelled in March. As we head into the final weeks of the Globe Walk there are a number of information items you need to know about:

 1. In order to get all of our stats tallied, the walk will officially end on April 20th. Captains then have just six days to collect and submit team totals so ALL TOTALS MUST BE IN BY SATURDAY, APRIL 26TH. Please try and get your March totals to me by April 11th. I realize these deadlines will be a scramble for some of you but it is the only way we can get everything ready for our final event on Sunday, May 4th. And that leads into the next item.

 2. The Globe Walk Participants Celebration Luncheon is on Sunday, May 4th, 12:30 pm at the Western Development Museum, McLeod Hall with musical entertainment by ‘Slightly Off Centre’. Tickets are $10 each and space is limited. I hope many of you can attend this fun finale. The tickets will be sold at the SCOA office in the Field House on Thursday morning, March 27th and Monday afternoon, April 7th.  This event is exclusively for Globe Walk participants.

 3. We would like to have some “testimonies” from participants to put on our website, in our Council On Aging Newsletter and to use for potential funding for next year. If you have a highlight or story about what the globe Walk meant/did for you please e-mail it to me.

  4. A Globe Walk team ‘SCOA Globe Walkers’ has been registered in the Bridge City Boogie.  Individual team member register online at www.bridgecityboogie.ca The registration fee for the 2k is $15 until April 10th and it then increases to $20. Everyone who registers by May 13th will receive a free team tee shirt. We would love to see as many of our participants from the Saskatoon Seniors’ Globe Walk join in this event.

Let’s see if we can finish our Globe Walk with a big boost of energy and activity!
